Though the Nanny tells them that she will take care of them and learn from them as that is her purpose. When the Nanny arrives as looking Human, one child disapproves immediately of it. They feel more comfortable with this as "it isn't capable of love" and cannot replace their mother at all. In desperation, they try a robotic nanny. The children felt that no one could replace their mother. This was something unique and rare due to most people having ideas that machines would be intellectually and useful "things" and nothing more. The story was unique because it took robots/machines and made them something that you would care about. Ray actually took this story and expanded upon it outside of the Twilight Zone. ![]() So with this episode, we get a good story by Ray Bradbury, a phenomenal science fiction writer at the time. I have to do this or else I'd place the majority of the episodes on my top 15 list and that wouldn't work, lol. The story, the writing, the characters, did the episode make me think ? Was it ridiculous or boring ? These are just some ways that I classify an episode. So with Twilight Zone episodes I look for a few things. A lot of people were confused as to how it beat out a lot of amazing episodes and even "To Serve Man" which I placed at number 2.
